By January 16th my friends and I were dying to get out of Madrid center so we thought what better than a casual Saturday of skiing? Little did we know that given all of the COVID restrictions, it was nearly mission impossible. The parking lot in Valdesqui and the slopes had limited capacity (50%) therefore we knew we had to leave at the crack of dawn to be one of the first ones there. But with the toque de queda or curfew, citizens are not allowed to leave their house until 6AM in the morning. So despite being only an hour away driving, we thought it to be quite risky considering we would have to rent the gear the day before and plan everything perfectly to get there before 7:30AM.
So us with the bright idea decided to sleep in a lodge in Rascafria which is a town 20 minutes away from Valdesqui in order to assure us that we would make it before the parking lot closed. We all had fun but needless to say we will never be doing that again!
