One thing I love about Spain is their support for young people – this could be the 20 euro Madrid metro pass that will take you across all zones of Madrid including Cercanias (the trains that take you out of the center), the RenfeJoven discount that ranges from 30-50% on long distance trains depending on how much in advance you book it and my favorite of them all the Carné Joven that provides discounts for every day things such as: discounts on museums, classes (including Padel in Canal), movies and restaurants. The list goes on!

Requirements to obtain the card:
– Be between ages 14 and 30 when you solicit the card
– Be a resident of the Community of Madrid

Why do you want the Carné Joven?
I mean do you like saving money? Cause if you don’t you can move on to another post. I personally like saving money and this card is free to obtain so why the hell not!?
It comes the most in handy for museum discounts:

  • CaixaForum – link
  • Museo Arqueológico Nacional – link
  • Museo Cerralbo – link
  • Museo de América – link
  • Museo del Romanticismo – link
  • Museo del Traje – link
  • Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía – link
  • Museo Nacional de Antropología – link
  • Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas – link
  • Museo Sorolla – link

Other discounts of interest:

  • Castillo de Manzanares
  • Teleferico
  • KFC
  • Pizza Hut
  • Travel insurance – Supposedly you have a type of travel insurance once you are 15km from your domicilio habitual – I personally have not used it but if you have please comment below on your experience!

For those who currently have the old red Carné Joven –
After the release of the new formatted Carné Joven, you wont get all of the benefits as you previously did since it is not the new, approved European Youth Card with a new membership number. It is also of your interest to update as now they offer a working PassBook digital card so you will always have it with you.
